Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works for NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell started as a radio and TV reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. 1996, she joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). A few years later, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. From 1981 onwards she began covering the White House. In 1988 she was named the chief reporter for Congress. She was made as the head White House correspondent by NBC News in 1992. Mitchell has been a panelist, as well as presenter of the TV program Meet the Press. She participated as a member of the panel at 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in the John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her role to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of the terms of President Ronald Reagan. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy reports over time, including the tax reforms, budget reforms and an investigation into the Iran Contra affair. She traveled frequently along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
